44 contractors win Navy's $780M training contract

Forty-four contractors have won spots on a $780 million Navy training contract.

The Navy awarded 52 contracts under the Training Data Products Contract with eight small businesses winning both the full-and-open portion and the small business portion of the contract. There were 30 awards in the full-and-open portion and 22 in the small-business portion.

These contracts will provide the Naval Air Systems Command Team with a vehicle to buy and support training data products, the announcement said.

The contract is divided into three functional areas, each of which can be used for the production, delivery, and sustainment of a training system. The contractor will provide products and services in one or more of three areas: analysis, design and evaluation; development, production and implementation; and sustainment. The type of training to be acquired include self-paced training, group-paced training, dual purpose training, blended training, learner assessments and performance support systems.

This vehicle will support training system requirements of the Naval Air Systems Command’s Aviation Training Systems Program Office. It will also support the office’s four program directorates, for aviation, surface, undersea and cross-warfare/international.

The eight small businesses that won both parts of the contract are: Carley Corp., Corsair Engineering, Crew Training International, Engineering and Computer Simulations, Intelligent Decision Systems, Southeastern Computer Consultants, TIE Today and VSD LLC.

Work is expected to be completed by August 2023, and will take place at the facility site of each awardee, or at existing or future training sites, the announcement said. Contract funds will not expire at the end of fiscal 2012.

The Navy received 44 bids on the contract. The Naval Air Warfare Center Training System Division is the contracting activity.
