Joe Jordan confirmed as OFPP administrator

Joe Jordan is the new administrator of the Office of Federal Procurement Policy. The Senate confirmed his nomination May 24 by voice vote.

The Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee gave its approval to Jordan May 16. Several senators raised their concerns about his experience and his stance against political contributions becoming a part of the contracting process

“My only qualm about Mr. Jordan has to do with whether or not he will stand up to the administration,” Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine), the committee’s ranking member, said at the May 16 hearing. The Office of Management and Budget applauded the confirmation May 25. “Congratulations to Joe Jordan!” OMB tweeted.

Earlier this year, some experts had doubted that the Senate would approve Jordan's nomination with a presidential election on the horizon.

Jordan has taken the place of Dan Gordon, who held the position since 2009. He left OFPP at the end of 2011 to become associate dean for government contracts law at the George Washington University Law School.
