$10B NGEN competition gets down to two

Hewlett-Packard adds Lockheed Martin to its team as the competition comes down to HP and Harris.
Lockheed Martin Corp. has joined Hewlett-Packard Co.’s team pursing the $10 billion Navy Next Generation Enterprise Network contract.
HP is the incumbent on the contract, now called the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet. The request for proposals for the follow-on is expected any day.
An internal memo sent to HP staffers Tuesday said that Lockheed is bringing experience in security and command and control systems and knowledge of the Navy and Marine Corps mission.
“Today our HP NGEN Alliance team just got even stronger,” wrote Bill Toti, vice president of Navy and Marine Corps accounts.
HP’s team also includes IBM, AT&T and Northrop Grumman.
The only other expected bidder team is a group led by Harris Corp., which had been a subcontractor to HP.
The Harris team includes Computer Sciences Corp., General Dynamics, Cisco and Verizon.
