Northrop builds $50M e-training system for Navy

Northrop Grumman Corp. will design and build a PC-based training system for the Navy under a five-year contract worth $49.9 million.

The indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract calls for Northrop Grumman Systems Information System Sector, Defense Technologies Division to design, develop and install a PC-based open architecture for reconfigurable training systems applications, the Defense Department said in an announcement Sept. 27.

The Navy’s surface training community will use the applications in automated electronic classrooms and team training environments with networked PCs running on the Windows operating system.

The work, which is expected to be completed in September 2016, will be performed in Newport, R.I.; Orlando and Mayport, Fla.; and San Diego.

This contract was competitively procured via an electronic request for proposals, with one offer received. The Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division, Orlando, is the contracting activity.
