BAE to boost Navy's onboard communications systems

BAE Systems Inc. has won an $18 million communications contract from the Navy, the Defense Department announced Sept. 15.

As a result, BAE Systems Technologies, Solutions and Services Inc., will provide support services to the Integrated Communications and Information Systems Division of Naval Air Warfare Center, Aircraft Division.

Services included under the cost-plus-fixed-fee contract include the design, integration, testing, installation, training, and certification of shipboard command, control, computers, communications and intelligence electronic communication systems.

The award also covers the provision of those services for similar systems at shore sites associated with the deployment of fleet surface ships and mobile and airborne C4I electronic communication systems designed to interface with the C4I electronic architecture of surface ships, the DOD announcement states.

Work will be performed in St. Inigoes, Md., and is expected to be completed in September 2016.
