Fourth quarter spending spree expected to hit $120B
Get ready for a busier than usual fourth quarter as agencies scramble to spend their budgets.
Government agencies in the last quarter of fiscal 2011 have $120 billion to spend, that’s $5 billion more than last year, according to speakers at a Coalition for Government Procurement event this week.
Reported on Deltek’s GovWin blog, panelists at the event blamed the compressed procurement time frame because of the late passage of the fiscal 2011 budget.
Agencies are motivated to spend the money before it is taken away, and GSA is seeing an uptick in contract volumes, reported Deltek’s Deniece Peterson.
