State, local Schedule 70 buys top $600M in fiscal 2010

Purchases on the General Services Administration's Schedule 70 by state and local governments as well as public educational groups grew 7.5 percent in federal fiscal 2010 to $608 million, according to a new report from Input.

“Despite the economic downturn, consumption of IT goods and services via GSA Schedule 70 is growing nearly twice as fast as the total state and local market, further boosting its value as a vehicle for business development,” said Jason Sajko, principal analyst of general government services at Deltek’s Input business unit.

In addition, Schedule 70 orders for the first quarter of federal fiscal 2011 increased 3.99 percent to $144.9 million, compared to the $139.49 million in the corresponding quarter of fiscal 2010.

The study, “GSA Schedule 70 Use by State and Local Governments,” is issued annually by Deltek’s Input business unit and analyzes vendor-reported volume data from the GSA contracts.

Analyzing this year’s overall IT spending trends and volumes, Deltek projects that continued growth in GSA Schedule 70 usage by states and local government will exceed $2 billion annually by 2015, driven by wireless services and perpetual software licensing orders.

The top five Schedule 70 sales contractors by volume in fiscal 2010 were Verizon Wireless, Oracle, DLT Solutions, Mythics and CDW-G, the report found.
