HP ramps up data center services for Special Ops Command

Hewlett-Packard Co. has won a four-year, $68.1 million data center services contract from the U.S. Special Operations Command to support its worldwide missions.

Under the terms of the contract, HP Enterprise Services will provide enterprisewide data center management support for SOCOM’s global enterprise IT server and storage computing environment.

The services will provide a quick, cost-effective response to the dynamic requirements of the military emergency response team, HP said in an announcement released today.

Benefits include improved availability, heightened data security, reduced complexity and increased stability of the IT environment, the announcement states.

HP will provide the services at multiple stateside and overseas locations.

Hewlett-Packard Co., of Palo Alto, Calif., ranks No. 12 on Washington Technology’s 2010 Top 100 list of the largest federal government contractors.
