The U.S. operating subsidiary of Canadian CGI Group Inc. will work specifically with GSA’s Office of Governmentwide Policy to upgrade the Data.gov website, according to a statement from CGI.
Under the Data.gov Dataset Hosting Services BPA, CGI will provide hosting services for this important government information, as well as technology tools for dataset analysis and professional services.
Developed by the Federal CIO Council as part of the Open Government Initiative, Data.gov serves as a central access point for citizens to research and analyze government data from more than 272,000 datasets supplied by 135 federal agencies, including statistics related to public education, health and geospatial mapping.
The site increases the public’s ability to easily find, download and use data published by federal agencies.
CGI Group, of Montreal, Que., ranks No. 82 on Washington Technology’s 2010 Top 100 list of the largest federal government contractors.
