GSA's Bev Godwin discusses 'face-tweeting'

The new media director said White House staffers used that term to describe simultaneous Facebook and Twitter posting.

At the Market Connections social media conference on July 27, Bev Godwin, director of new media and citizen engagement for the General Services Administration, used a new term—“face-tweeting”—to describe the action of publishing a Facebook message while simultaneously tweeting a shortened version of the message on Twitter. She said the term was used while she was recently detailed to the White House to describe a common practice by staffers there.

Also, Godwin told the conference group she wanted to clear up any misconceptions about who is doing the tweeting from the White House’s Twitter account:

“The president is not the one doing the tweeting,” Godwin said.
