BAE taps intelligence pro to lead Information Solutions unit

BAE Systems Inc. has named John Gannon president of its Information Solutions business.

The unit provides information technology, intelligence analysis and other homeland security solutions to federal agencies, the company said in a statement June 1.

The unit also includes a new cyber facility that eliminates threats, anticipates vulnerabilities and tracks potential intrusions into BAE Systems’ computer networks.

Gannon, a 20-year veteran of the Central Intelligence Agency, joined BAE Systems in 2005 as vice president and senior general manager of the company’s Global Analysis business, a unit of Information Solutions.

In that role, Gannon was responsible for building the business to support U.S. government and corporate analysis.

Before joining BAE Systems, Gannon held senior posts in the intelligence community.

He served as staff director for the House Select Committee on Homeland Security, the first new House committee in more than 30 years.

Before that, he headed the White House team that created the Information Analysis and Infrastructure Protection Directorate in the Homeland Security Department.

As chairman of the National Intelligence Council, Gannon advised the president’s national security team on top-priority functional and global issues.
