Harris buys Patriot to expand federal health IT offerings
Harris Corp. has acquired privately held Patriot Technologies LLC, a provider of health care information technology, imaging and enterprise software solutions primarily to the Veterans Affairs Department.
Harris Corp. has acquired privately held Patriot Technologies LLC, a provider of health care information technology, imaging and enterprise software solutions primarily to the Veterans Affairs Department. The financial terms were not announced.
The acquisition further extends Harris’ presence in the rapidly expanding $3.4 billion federal government health care IT market and expands its position as a provider of integrated, interoperable health care IT solutions, according to a company announcement issued today.
The move also positions the company to provide comprehensive interoperability solutions that deal with the national priority of integrating the VA and the Military Health System.
“Patriot’s VA credentials, relationships and health care IT expertise are strong additions to our federal health care solutions initiatives,” Howard Lance, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Harris, said.
“With this acquisition, Harris is well-positioned for a lead role in VA health care information technology and broader federal health care integration,” he added.
Patriot, of King of Prussia, Pa., has about 100 employees. It will become part of the Harris Healthcare Solutions business unit, led by Vice President Jim Traficant.
Houlihan Lokey was the financial adviser on the acquisition.
