Unisys to deliver IT services to Silicon Valley city

Unisys Corp. has won a seven-year information technology contract with the Silicon Valley city of Santa Clara, Calif., that has an estimated value of $20 million.

The contract calls for Unisys to provide IT and application outsourcing services to support 15 city departments, administrative offices and utilities, with a goal of helping more than 1,000 end users serve the city’s 117,000 residents more effectively, company officials said today. 

The full range of services for the city government includes IT, data center and network management and support, 24-hour service desk, equipment provisioning and maintenance, and deskside services.

In addition, infrastructure monitoring will be provided through Unisys Converged Remote Infrastructure Management solution, which provides a single, consolidated view of the IT infrastructure.

The contractor also will supply application modernization and support, including Web development and architecture services to help make it easier for citizens to request services and do business with the city over the Web.

Santa Clara has a new vision for the way IT can add value to the business of municipal government, said Gaurav Garg, director of information technology for the city. “We want to see IT management services and expertise available on demand, wherever and whenever needed, to serve continually changing initiatives and public-service priorities.”

Unisys, of Blue Bell, Pa., ranks No. 32 on Washington Technology’s 2009 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
