General Dynamics to develop secure credentials for DHS

General Dynamics Information Technology will develop secure credentials for immigrants seeking employment within the United States under a new contract with the Homeland Security Department's Citizenship and Immigration Services, the company announced today.

The contract for the Employment Authorization Document Identification Card program could be worth up to $22 million over five years. General Dynamics Information Technology is a business unit of General Dynamics.

Under contract, General Dynamics will help develop the design and security characteristics for the new counterfeit-resistant polycarbonate Employment Authorization Document. The ID card will be issued to legal U.S. immigrants to prove eligibility to work in the United States, according to the company.

Production is scheduled to begin in 2010 once the design phase has been completed.

General Dynamics Corp., of Falls Church, Va., ranks No. 4 on Washington Technology's 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
