SAIC moves headquarters to get closer to customers
The engineering and technology applications company formerly known as Science Applications International Corp., has relocated its corporate headquarters from San Diego to the company’s facilities in McLean, Va.
SAIC Inc. has become the latest government contractor to move much closer to its main clients.
The engineering and technology applications company, formerly known as Science Applications International Corp., announced today that it has relocated its corporate headquarters from San Diego to the company’s facilities in McLean, Va.
The headquarters designation is effective immediately, the announcement said.
“This move will formally relocate the corporate executive leadership team closer to our federal government customers enabling us to better respond quickly and efficiently to their critical needs, while maintaining a significant presence in San Diego,” said SAIC CEO Walt Havenstein, in the statement.
There are about 17,500 SAIC employees in the metropolitan Washington, D.C., area, representing the company’s largest concentration of workers. The Washington Post recently ranked SAIC as the area’s fourth largest employer.
SAIC ranks No. 7 on Washington Technology’s 2009 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
