Vangent helps OPM administer federal health benefits
Vangent has won a five-year, $15 million contract to help the Office of Personnel Management administer the federal employees’ health benefits program.
Vangent Inc. has won a five-year, $15 million contract to provide the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) with support services for the federal employees’ health benefits program.
Under the contract, Vangent will provide a variety of services as part of the open season program of the Federal Employee Health Benefits (FEHB), an annual opportunity for federal employees to change their health plan options and enrollments from one government health care provider to another.
Vangent will enhance Web and other Internet self-service capabilities and will also be responsible for disseminating printed collateral materials, such as Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program notifications, and conducting large-scale mailings.
Vangent will process enrollment changes and information requests and provide the associated information to OPM and the various health plans. Similarly, it will regularly provide management information system data and reports to OPM and receive and transmit encrypted data electronically.
Vangent also will supply an end-to-end customer relationship management (CRM) solution by developing, managing and staffing a call center to respond to annuitants’ inquires.
OPM administers the health and life insurance benefits for federal annuitants and survivors under the Civil Service Retirement and the Federal Employees Retirement systems via the FEHB, which covers about nine million persons.
