CSC will consolidate visa systems for State Department

Computer Sciences Corp. will consolidate visa processing for the State Department under a five-year contract valued at up to $36 million.

The task order calls for CSC to consolidate four existing visa systems into one unified processing system for State’s Bureau of Consular Affairs.

Under the terms of the agreement, the company will replace existing visa processing software with a new fully integrated suite of applications. The modernized system will improve visa operations and support immigrant and non-immigrant visa processing within the United States and at embassies abroad.

“By applying CSC’s expertise in integrated software solutions, we will lower risk, cost and complexity, and, at the same time, enhance productivity, accountability and security,” said James Sheaffer, president of CSC’s North American Public Sector.

CSC began working with State in 1991 and has performed services for 14 different bureaus, including the installation of telephone systems, program management and refugee processing on a worldwide basis, company officials said.

CSC, of Falls Church, Va., ranks No. 9 on Washington Technology’s 2009 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
