The blanket purchase agreement from the Defense Information Systems Agency is part of the Defense Department Enterprise Software Initiative. The BPA calls for DLT, of Herndon, Va., to provide Red Hat software and services that include Red Hat Enterprise Linux software to the entire DOD community.
The enterprise software initiative is a project of DOD's chief information officers. It seeks to maximize DOD's buying power and take advantage of the significant cost savings and management efficiencies that result from acquiring and managing commercially available software, information technology hardware and selected services on a departmentwide basis.
The BPA runs through Feb. 17, 2014.
