CSC and Vision Technologies to upgrade EPA technology

Computer Sciences Corp. and its protégé company Vision Technologies Inc. will provide infrastructure services to the Environmental Protection Agency under an eight-year contract that has a cumulative value of $102 million.

Under CSC’s subcontract, the government contractor will support and manage the EPA Office of Research and Development’s servers and data storage, voice and data networks, and IT security. CSC also will provide end-user support for specialized scientific applications and hardware to 13 ORD laboratories, research centers and offices nationwide.

The Office of Research and Development examines ways to prevent pollution, protect human health and reduce environmental risk.

CSC officials estimate the value of its subcontract to be $44 million.

CSC was awarded the subcontract under a Vision Technologies task order issued through the General Services Administration’s Veterans Technology Services contract, a $5 billion small business set-aside contract for service-disabled, veteran-owned small technology firms.

Vision Technologies, of Glen Burnie, Md., is a CSC protégé firm under the federally recognized Mentor-Protégé program established in 1990 by the Defense Department. The program provides incentives for major prime contractors to help small, disadvantaged businesses compete more successfully for contract awards.
