Vangent to build health care solution for MHS

Vangent Inc. will work with the Defense Department’s Military Health System to create a new clinical health information technology tool under a $14.1 million task order.

The award calls for Vangent to enhance the collection of traumatic brain injury and associated behavioral health information for service members at every stage of their care.

Vangent will develop a clinical IT solution to improve the workflow for collecting traumatic brain injury patients’ health information and integrate it with the military’s electronic health records. When deployed, the tool will make patients’ information available more quickly for diagnosis and treatment, thereby improving clinical outcomes, company officials said.

DOD and the Veterans Affairs Department developed the program in response to recommendations made by the President’s Commission on Care for America’s Returning Wounded Warriors.

Created in 2007, the bipartisan commission aims to improve wounded service members’ transition from deployment to productive military service or civilian life and to make recommendations on needed improvements to their health care.

Vangent’s subcontractors include Akimeka LLC, Guident Inc., Enterprise Information Management Inc., Forgentum Inc. and n-tieractive Inc.
