CACI hires Azmi as senior vice president

CACI International Inc. has hired Zalmai Azmi to serve as senior vice president for strategic law enforcement and national security programs.

The FBI's former chief information officer joins CACI after managing the development and modernization of the bureau's information technology program for the past five years.

In his new role, Azmi will use his federal IT and national security expertise to help expand CACI's name recognition, thought leadership role and related market share in the law enforcement and national security arenas, company officials said. He will also assist in identifying acquisition candidates and initiatives to spur company growth, they said.

Azmi joined the FBI in 2003 and was named CIO in 2004. He guided the bureau through its largest technology upgrade, which included development of the bureau's next-generation information and case management system and the creation of a knowledge base and assets that enable the FBI to participate fully in information-sharing programs in the intelligence and law enforcement communities.

Previously, Azmi served as CIO in the Executive Office for U.S. Attorneys. He was detailed to an intelligence agency and twice deployed to Afghanistan to support military operations. He also served in the Marine Corps.

Azmi was recently appointed to the board of directors of the InfraGard National Members Alliance, a public/private organization of FBI agents and more than 27,000 volunteer members who own and operate the country's critical infrastructure.
