CSC to support Army battle command program

Computer Sciences Corp. will furnish engineering, architecture, integration and readiness support to the Army under a contract that could be worth $88 million over two years.

Under the terms of the task order from the Army's Program Executive Office, Command, Control and Communications Tactical, CSC will provide a diverse range of support for the Army's Future Battle Command program.

CSC's services will include systems engineering and integration, network engineering, architecture development and information assurance. They also cover technology upgrade and integration, prototyping, testing, fielding and training.

This support will improve the Army's ability to plan and execute the integration of today's battle command systems with evolving future combat systems and network-enabled command and control, said James Sheaffer, president of CSC's North American Public Sector business.

The Program Executive Office, Command, Control and Communications Tactical is responsible for developing, fielding and sustaining the Army battle command systems. It also oversees the acquisition, development and integration of secure tactical communications for the digitized battlefield.

CSC, of Falls Church, Va., ranks No. 9 on Washington Technology's 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
