Rising Star: Carlos Laureano

INFORMATION SECURITY ENGINEERGeneral Dynamics Corp. andNON-COMMISSIONED OFFICER, U.S. ArmyLaureano is deployed with the Army at the RegionalComputer Emergency Response Team, SouthwestAsia. It is his second deployment in the region.When working for GeneralDynamics, he is an informationsecurity engineer, analyzing newDefense Department systems forsecurity risks.As a deployed Army reservist,Laureano is assisting vulnerabilityassessment analysts and managing 14 military and13 contractor employees.In his first deployment to southwest Asia in2005-2006, Laureano helped establish new techniquesand methodologies in a combat theater thatwould identify and fix network and system securityissues. His frontline experience has improved hisability in his civilian job to help DOD customers seea wider range of cyberthreats.
