Alion to assist EPA with clean air auditing

Alion Science and Technology Corp. will provide the Environmental Protection Agency with materials and services to support the agency's specialized clean air and environment audits under a five-year contract that could be worth as much as $12.5 million.

Alion will help the EPA verify the accuracy of its analytical instruments and meet national requirements for audit programs such as the National Performance Audit Program, Performance Evaluation Program, Clean Air Status and Trends Network, Chemical Specialization Network, National Air Toxics Trends Network and Stationary Source Audit Programs.

In addition, the employee-owned company will provide professional services to help EPA test analytical systems and monitor states' compliance with federal regulations for a safe environment and clean air, company officials said.

The contract has a one-year base and four one-year option periods.

Alion, of McLean, Va., ranks No. 31 on Washington Technology's 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
