SRA to do IT work for energy commission

SRA International Inc. will provide support services to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) under a five-year contract worth an estimated $77 million.

Under the terms of the Information Technology Support Services contract, SRA will provide FERC's 1,400 federal and contract employees with network services and data center support, IT security, enterprise architecture support, and software engineering and development. The company also will handle document and records management for FERC's electronic library.

SRA will provide services based on its Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) Level 3 and IT Infrastructure Library processes, the company said. This is SRA's first contract award with the Washington-based regulatory body, company officials said.

FERC is an independent government agency that regulates the interstate transmission of electricity, natural gas and oil. The commission also considers proposals to build liquefied natural gas terminals and interstate natural gas pipelines and licenses hydropower projects. FERC is headed by Chairman Joseph Kelliher and four commissioners.

SRA, of Fairfax, Va., ranks No. 32 on Washington Technology's 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
