GeoEye Inc. will supply geospatial products and related services to the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency under new awards totaling $22 million, company officials said.
GeoEye is a provider of satellite, aerial and geospatial information. The company will provide the agency with imagery-based geospatial intelligence products, including its airport mapping product line. GeoEye's advanced imagery processing centers in Thornton, Colo., and St. Louis will process and produce the imagery.
The awards are in addition to the task order for imagery purchases the company received from NGA last fall.
"Our high-resolution imagery and products provide a critical supplement to the NGA for updating its mapping databases with highly accurate, broad-area coverage," said Bill Wilt, GeoEye's vice president of North American Sales.
Last month, the company announced an Aug. 22 launch date for its next-generation, Earth-imaging satellite GeoEye-1. It will collect images with a ground resolution of 0.41 meters, or 16 inches, in the panchromatic, or black-and-white, mode and collect color imagery at 1.65-meter resolution.
GeoEye is headquartered in Dulles, Va.
