BearingPoint to help pipe aboard Navy recruits

BearingPoint will assist the Navy's recruitment efforts with business improvement methodology and operations support under a three-year blanket purchase agreement.

BearingPoint Inc. will assist the Navy's recruitment efforts with business improvement methodology and operations support under a three-year blanket purchase agreement worth as much as $12.3 million.

Under the contract, BearingPoint will provide a wide array of services and operational support to the Commander, Navy Recruiting Command (CNRC), including process-based cost modeling to determine the expense of recruiting enlisted personnel and officers into the active and reserve forces.

The consulting company will also provide Lean Six Sigma, a business improvement methodology that is widely used by the Defense Department, and a strategic planning and management tool known as balanced scorecard.

CNRC's mission is to use best business practices to meet the service's recruitment goals while maintaining an effective recruiting force of about 7,000 civilian and military personnel.

The initial contract work will be performed at CNRC headquarters in Millington, Tenn., with other work possible at several locations, such as Washington, D.C., Pensacola, Fla., and Great Lakes Naval Base, Ill.

BearingPoint, of McLean, Va., ranks No. 28 on Washington Technology's 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
