Maximus to continue Medicare appeals work
Maximus Inc. will continue processing appeals associated with Medicare Part D prescription drug program under a new federal contract.
Maximus Inc. will continue processing appeals associated with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services' Medicare Part D prescription drug program under a new three-year contract worth $14 million.
Under the contract, Maximus Federal Services adjudicates appeals from Medicare beneficiaries as a result of denials stemming from a Medicare Advantage-Prescription Drug plan or a stand-alone prescription drug plan, the company said in a news release. Maximus provides the services through its capacity as a qualified independent contractor (QIC) to CMS.
In addition to its Part D QIC responsibilities, the company also handles appeals nationwide for Medicare Part C (Medicare Advantage) and traditional Medicare Part A for the eastern United States.
Maximus has provided Medicare appeals services to CMS since 1989, company officials said.
Maximus Federal Services is part of Maximus Inc., of Reston, Va. The parent company provides program management, consulting and information technology services to government clients.
