DCS wins Navy R&D work

DCS Corp. will provide research and development services to the Navy in an effort to refine sophisticated sensor technologies under a $16.7 million contract.

Under the terms of the agreement, DCS of Alexandria, Va., will conduct R&D and technology demonstrations for imaging sensor technologies, enhanced target recognition methods and real-time processing capabilities, the Defense Department said.

The military uses sensors for night vision systems, targeting and fire control, navigation and countermine efforts. The technology developed under the contract will help the Navy meet evolving requirements for surveillance, reconnaissance, targeting and precision strike capabilities, DOD said. The work is scheduled to be completed by March 2013.

DCS specializes in engineering and systems development related to sensors, platform electronics, weapons and ordnance, command and control and knowledge management.

The company's client base includes all of the military services, General Services Administration and departments of Homeland Security and Transportation.
