Alion lands Navsea job

Alion Science and Technology Corp. will help engineer, design and integrate electrical power systems for Navy surface ships and submarines under a new five-year, $9.8 million contract with the Naval Sea Systems Command.

Alion will support Navsea's Electric Ships Office with systems engineering and integration of Next Generation Integrated Power System technology. Alion also will provide modeling and simulation capabilities.

The Next Generation Integrated Power System development approach improves on existing Integrated Power Systems and inserts technologies as they are ready into ships. The system is an enterprise approach to develop and provide smaller, simpler, more affordable and more capable power systems for all Navy ships.

Alion's team includes subcontractors BMT Syntek Technologies Inc. and RCI Serco.

Alion will help develop and maintain baseline ships and power systems. The company also will assist with the development and execution of a business case assessment process.
