Stanley Inc. will build and manage a new passport-processing facility in Tucson, Ariz., under a contract awarded last year by the State Department.

Under the terms of the contract, Stanley, of Arlington, Va., will oversee the printing, quality control and mailing of U.S. passports and other travel documents processed at the new center. Earlier this year, Stanley opened a passport center in Hot Springs, Ark.

The Tucson facility is expected to open in spring 2008, according to the company.

In October 2006, the State Department awarded a 10-year contract valued at $164 million that required the company to open two new facilities and manage their operations. Stanley operates 18 such facilities nationwide.

The company has performed passport services for the State Department since 1992.

Stanley ranks No. 50 on Washington Technology's 2007 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
