Contractor launches intel demo

A former architect of the Homeland Security Department's primary information-sharing network is launching a new Web-based secure portal to facilitate broader federal information sharing.

Ray Stuyvesant, chief executive at Compusat Services Inc. of Missoula, Mont., said he has created the Federal Intelligence Network, known as FedIntel, as a demonstration project under the Coalition Warrior Interoperability Demonstration program of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The goal is to win customers in federal, state and local homeland security and emergency management, he said.

Stuyvesant, a former lead architect for DHS' Homeland Security Information Network critical-sectors portal, said his new portal uses advanced software, including Microsoft's 2007 Sharepoint, and allows for enhanced communication and better information-sharing and collaboration.

"We have proposed a better solution," Stuyvesant said.

In addition, the FedIntel Network uses frameworks of the National Response Plan and the National Infrastructure Protection Plan and incorporates information-sharing networks for the councils and other organizations in the plans within it. Its design also integrates the HSIN, Stuyvesant said.

The FedIntel portal does not have any federal government customers yet, but it is being tested with the West Virginia intelligence fusion center and with a Canadian national operations center, he said.
