Fujifilm's Tape Tracker is a data asset management solution that improves the security and shipping of data tape media.

An airborne system from Logos Technologies Inc.orbited above a robotic vehicle event while imagingand recording the entire area twice per second at1-foot resolution. The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agencyproject supported the Urban Challenge robotic-vehiclecompetition in Victorville, Calif.Five terabytes of data were recorded with enoughfidelity to continuously monitor vehicles at the event.A high-bandwidth data link with the aircraft providedreal-time control of 15 independently locatableimage streams. The project demonstrated the abilityof one specially equipped aircraft to equal the capabilityof 10 or more conventionally equipped aircraft.Recorded and real-time imagery from the Logossystem is processed to remove motion and aspectangleeffects, making displayed image streamsappear as though they were collected from a stationaryplatform.Fujifilm's Tape Tracker is a data asset managementsolution that improves the security and shippingof data tape media. Designed to fit inside astandard tape media case, the Tape Tracker combinesGlobal Positioning System technology with aWeb-based application to provide chief informationofficers and data managers with location and trackinginformation in real time. The Tape Tracker provides a perspective of dataassets during transport to offsite vaulting locations, other data centers or disaster recovery facilities.Fujifilm worked with defense contractor QinetiQplc to create the GPS system housed in a standard1/2-inch data tape cartridge. The resulting deviceclosely resembles a standard data tape, but whenincluded in a tape media case, for example, itallows data managers to monitor important dataassets in real time and locate misplaced or stolentapes instantly..
