ATS closes Number Six buy

ATS Corp. has completed its purchase of Number Six Software Inc., a provider of application development and information technology consulting services. The acquisition was announced last month.

ATS, based in McLean, Va., said that it is making the acquisition to boost its IT service offerings and add new customers in the government and commercial markets.

The purchase adds scale and customers for ATS in both markets, said Edward Bersoff, chairman, president and chief executive officer at ATS.

"It also establishes a strong platform for growth in 2008 and beyond and demonstrates our ability to accomplish our priority initiatives," he said.

Acquisitions are a key part of ATS' growth strategy, and Number Six won't be the last, Bersoff said in a recent interview.

"We started out as a federal service acquisition company," he said. "You do have to take some pause and integrate, but acquisition is part of our long-term plan."

Number Six, based in Vienna, Va., has about 175 employees. ATS Corp. expects Number Six will generate annual revenue of about $33 million in 2007, and it anticipates about 15 percent in revenue growth for Number Six in 2008.
