AT&T to re-engineer Marine manpower modeling

AT&T Government Solutions will re-engineer the Marine Corps Manpower Modeling System under a $13.8 million contract.

Under the terms of the contract, the company will provide information technology and software engineering services to integrate the existing manpower modeling and forecasting systems into a single system.

The new system will allow the Marines to address recruiting, retention and staffing objectives across the Corps more quickly and accurately, according to an AT&T announcement.

"Accurate personnel forecasting is critical to maintaining an optimal fighting force, and developing advanced modeling subsystems requires deep software engineering, data management and algorithm expertise," said John Klebonis, AT&T vice president of professional services.

The new system will use a customized Web-based graphical user interface to give officials access to real-time data. It will aid their management of Military Occupational Specialty programs.

The contract spans two years, with three optional one-year renewals.

AT&T, based in San Antonio, ranks No. 67 on Washington Technology's 2007 Top 100 list of the largest federal government contractors. AT&T Government Solutions, based in Vienna, Va., is the division of the company that serves federal customers.
