Qwest snares Ohio communications deal

Qwest Communications International Inc. has won a two-year contract worth more than $15 million from the Ohio Information Technology Office to furnish communications services.

Under the contract, Qwest, based in Denver, Co., will provide secure network connectivity to state employees on the road, a network-based contact call center solution, long distance and toll-free services.

The more than 800 state agencies and other organizations participating in the cooperative buying arrangement will be able to purchase the services outlined through the contract.

The contract also covers critical functions and initiatives such as contingency plans for Ohio agencies during crisis situations, Amber Alert hotline, statewide employment services and the state's identity theft hotline.

Qwest ranks No. 54 on Washington Technology's 2007 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
