BlueStreak Connect LLC, a Littleton, Co.-based company that offers collaboration software, has opened an office in Herndon, Va., in an effort to develop a federal government business.

The company has hired Michael Smith Business Development, a small investor and public relations firm headquartered in Herndon to staff the office initially, and BlueStreak president and chief marketing officer Paul Smith will move to the area later this year. Eventually the Herndon office will become the company's executive offices, according to Michael Smith.

The company's ConnectSuite software allows law enforcement and other emergency response agencies to collect, access, manage and share information. BlueStreak offers it as a service, rather than as a product that customers must deploy internally. The suite includes four separate products to provide the broad range of functions.

BlueStreak sees the Homeland Security department, the FBI, the Capitol Police and other federal and local agencies as potential customers in the national capital area.

"We believe hosted software applications offer a number of advantages for emergency responders across the board," said Paul Smith. "While traditionally we have targeted small and mid-sized law enforcement agencies in our marketing efforts, we believe that the ease of use and minimal service requirements associated with our product can be of great benefit for emergency professionals at the federal level as well."
