Unisys receives Chicago outsourcing renewal
Unisys Corp. has won a contract renewal from the City of Chicago to continue furnishing IT outsourcing services.
Unisys Corp. has won a contract renewal from the City of Chicago to continue furnishing information technology outsourcing services under a six-year, $72 million contract.
Under the new agreement, Unisys of Blue Bell, Pa., will expand the range of IT services it provides to include managed services for the city's Sun server infrastructure and modernization of network operations. The company also will expand the remote support it has begun providing the city in an effort to resolve service incidents faster. The new contract includes a one-year option valued at $12 million.
Through the contract, Unisys supports more than 18,000 city employees in 43 separate agencies. The company's IT outsourcing services cover management of network and servers, desktop and laptop systems and wireless devices. The agreement also covers service desk help and hardware support and maintenance.
The company also provides infrastructure support for critical applications, such as the city's 311 nonemergency call system, as well as its Web site and related applications.
Unisys ranks No. 27 on Washington Technology's 2007 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
