CGI gets more LA County ERP work

Los Angeles County will use CGI Group Inc.'s human resources management system for the next phase of the county's enterprise resource planning project.

The county awarded CGI a six-year, $84 million contract for the AMS Advantage Human Resources Management system, company officials said.

CGI and Los Angeles County signed an agreement for an integrated financial management system in 2004. At the time, the county was facing challenges that included disparate charts of accounts, need for tighter budgetary control and labor-intensive payment processing.

Using the AMS Advantage ERP solution, the county established a multi-phased approach to deliver incremental results.

Phase one was completed in July 2005. That phase integrated financial management functions. Phase two covers materials management and procurement, budget preparation and Health Services Department time collection processing.

The new phase will integrate human resource management functions, including payroll, employee self-service, position control, benefits administration and talent management to nearly 90,000 county employees.

Additionally, CGI will develop and implement a new grants management system to help the county manage its substantial portfolio of grants.

CGI Group Inc. of Montreal has more than 25,000 employees and had annual sales of $3.3 billion in 2006. The company ranks No. 53 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list of the largest federal IT contractors. The 2007 Top 100 list is due out May 14.
