NGA strategy underscores collaboration, analytics

The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency this week published an updated statement of its strategy for the National System for Geospatial Intelligence that stresses the importance of collaboration and the use of trusted analytics.

The strategy covers such topics as partnerships with the intelligence and defense communities, standardization of data and metadata to facilitate information-sharing and distribution of geographic information over Web-enabled service oriented architectures.

"Improving our collective capability is a never-ending job, and we will excel by leveraging our diverse expertise and assets; we will become more innovative and take risks; and we will strive always to exceed expectations organizationally and as part of the integrated community," said Navy Vice Adm. Robert B. Murrett, director of the agency Murrett.

The national system for geospatial intelligence community comprises the intelligence community, Joint Staff, military departments and combatant commands. Partners include the National Applications Office, Civil Applications Committee members, international partners, industry, academia and service providers.
