General Dynamics wins Navy network engineering task
General Dynamics has won a task order from the Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division to manage the center's Aircraft Carrier Distributed Data and Control Network and the Navigation Critical Distribution System.
General Dynamics has won a three-year, $8.4 million task order from the Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division to manage the center's Aircraft Carrier Distributed Data and Control Network and the Navigation Critical Distribution System.
The task order calls for General Dynamics Information Technology business unit to provide a wide range of engineering services for the two data and communications systems for installation on the 12 Nimitz-class aircraft carriers.
The carriers ? considered floating airports ? are capable of launching as many as four aircraft a minute.
General Dynamics will provide engineering support, procurement and installation services, modifications and testing, as well as secure communications for the Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division in Bethesda, Md.
The Carderock facility is the Navy's principal center for applied maritime science and technology and other scientific areas related to surface and undersea science.
The company will perform the work at Navy facilities in Philadelphia; San Diego; Bremerton, Wash.; and Chesapeake, Va.
