General Dynamics Corp.'s Information Technology unit has been awarded a five-year, $9.6 million deal from the IRS to expand the IRS Transition Management Office's outreach and support efforts.

The Falls Church, Va., company will undertake projects aimed at ensuring IRS organizations make the best use of the agency's guidance for designing, developing and supporting business systems modernization projects. The contractor also will lead the Transition Management team and provide direct consulting support.

General Dynamics of Falls Church, Va., has about 72,200 employees and had annual sales of $24 billion in 2006. The company ranks No. 4 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list of the largest federal IT contractors.
