CSC to help modernize federal systems for Germany

Computer Sciences Corp. will deliver an information technology framework to Germany's Federal Administration Office through a three-year, $22 million contract.

Under the contract, CSC of El Segundo, Calif., will provide IT consulting services to Germany's federal ministries, federal authorities and nonprofit organizations.

With regard to the Federal Administration Office, CSC will roll out new IT-based processes, integrate legacy systems, implement public workflow and document management systems, and apply Interior Department standards and architectures for e-government applications.

In addition, CSC will supply consulting services for strategic processes to improve both IT and e-government strategies.

The contract builds on a six-year relationship the company has with Germany's Interior Ministry, said Dr. Julia Bertrams, a member of the board of CSC's operations in Germany.

"Because the ministries and authorities all have different starting positions for modernization, we will create corresponding solutions and IT architectures to meet their diverse needs and, thus, deliver tangible results," she said.

CSC has about 77,000 customers and had annual sales of $14.7 billion in fiscal 2006. The company ranks No. 5 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list of the largest federal IT contractors.
