BearingPoint to assist Navy with information systems management

BearingPoint Inc. will deliver program management support and assistance with other critical functions to the Navy office responsible for information systems through a five-year, $37 million contract.

The contract has a one-year base value of $7.5 million and four one-year options.

Under the contract, BearingPoint of McLean, Va., will provide the Navy Project Executive Office for Enterprise Information Systems with support in a number of key areas, including program and financial management, acquisition and contract services and management and maintenance of business tools.

The Navy established the office, known as PEO-EIS, in February 2006 to oversee its critical information technology programs. One of the overarching requirements that BearingPoint has is to assist the office in developing and implementing common program management processes to promote consistent and standardized management of cost, risk, schedule and performance.

The ultimate goal is to help the Navy build a foundation for acquisition management of software-intensive systems and deploy information technology systems in a cost-effective manner.

BearingPoint, which has more than 17,000 employees, ranks No. 23 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list of the largest federal IT contractors.
