Cingular wins $2B renewal from states alliance
The Western States Contracting Alliance has renewed a contract with Cingular Wireless LLC that the company expects will generate $2 billion in revenue over four years.
The Western States Contracting Alliance has renewed a contract with Cingular Wireless LLC that the company expects will generate $2 billion in revenue over four years.
Under the new contract, Cingular of Atlanta will furnish state and local subscribers with access to the company's entire portfolio of wireless devices and services. Agencies in all 50 states may purchase from the contract.
The arrangement also covers converged voice and data handhelds and LaptopConnect cards for Cingular's 3G-based BroadbandConnect service.
Cingular currently provides services to more than one million WSCA subscribers in various state, county and municipal agencies and in public schools and institutions of higher learning throughout the country.
The wireless services delivered through the contract will help government agencies keep their highly mobile workforces connected, the company said.
The Western States Contracting Alliance offers states an opportunity to participate in a cooperative purchasing program designed to achieve cost-effective and efficient acquisition of quality products and services.
Cingular is owned by AT&T Inc. of San Antonio.
