Raytheon lands UAE air traffic management work

Raytheon Co. won a 22-month, $20 million contract from the United Arab Emirates for a new air traffic management system for the country's General Civil Aviation Authority.

Under the contract, Raytheon of Waltham, Mass., will install its AutoTrac III air traffic management system in the new Sheikh Zayed Air Traffic Center in Abu Dhabi.

The advanced system is the successor to the company's AutoTrac I and II, and features new flight and surveillance data processing systems.

AutoTrac III lets users integrate the product system with either their legacy or next-generation products. It also can be adapted to any air traffic management environment, whether it's a tower automation system or a national, multiple-center system.

Raytheon, which has about 80,000 employees and had 2005 revenue of $21.9 billion, ranks No. 6 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list of the largest federal IT contractors.
