Raytheon lands TSA aviation-security deal

Raytheon Technical Services Company LLC won a $3.7 million contract from the Transportation Security Administration to deliver a system that communicates data and images to airports across the country.

The company will manage the first phase of TSA's Security Technology Integrated Program initiative. The initial phase calls for integrating and testing commercial and custom software used to exchange data with threat image projection and ready X-ray systems.

When completed, the aviation security system will send data and images to about 1,200 TRX systems fielded at 80 airports. Raytheon will handle training and support.

Raytheon Technical Services Company LLC is a unit of Raytheon Co., Waltham, Mass. The parent company, which has about 80,000 employees and had 2005 revenue of $21.9 billion, ranks No. 6 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list of the largest federal IT contractors.
