HP lands $440M DISA infrastructure deal

Hewlett-Packard Co. won two contracts from the Defense Information Systems Agency worth up to $440 million over eight years to furnish computing infrastructure in 17 locations worldwide. Both contracts have a five-year base period and three one-year options.

Under one contract, capped at $250 million, HP of Palo Alto, Calif., will deliver its HP-UX operating environment. Under the other contract, worth up to $190 million, it will deliver operating environments in Microsoft Windows, Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Novell SUSE Linux.

The company's computing infrastructure will adjust to DISA's fluctuating demands, and the Defense Department agency will pay only for the services it uses.

HP will deploy its Integrity and ProLiant servers, software solutions for automated server provisioning and its OpenView commercial applications. The company will design, deliver, install and maintain the infrastructure services.

HP, which has about 150,000 employees and posted 2005 revenue of $86.7 billion, ranks No. 26 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list of the largest federal IT contractors.
