Command Information rolls out federal unit

Command Information Inc. has created a federal division to tap into the U.S. government's network-centric computing needs.

The Herndon, Va., company offers Internet protocol version 6 solutions, the latest version of Internet protocol. A federal government mandate requires that all agencies switch from Internet protocol version 4 to the new version by June 2008.

David Kriegman, former chief operating officer of SRA International Inc., is president of the new unit, named Command Federal.

Private equity firm Paladin Capital Group's Homeland Security Fund financed the new division along with additional investment by the Carlyle Group LLC of Washington and Novak Biddle Venture Partners of Bethesda, Md.

"We recognize IPv6 as a growing market with huge potential commercially and for trusted internet operation in the 21st century," Kenneth Minihan, managing director at Paladin and former director of the National Security Agency, said in a written statement.
