EPA seeks 30,000 PIV cards

The Environmental Protection Agency is looking to purchase 30,000 Personal Identity Verification cards under a firm, fixed-price contract so it can meet an upcoming deadline under Homeland Security Presidential Directive-12.

In a recent notice, the agency said it initiated an EPA Personal Access and Security System (EPASS) that will establish an HSPD-12-compliant credentialing program encompassing the full set of badge and security requirements.Under HSPD-12, agencies must begin issuing PIV cards to new employees by Oct. 27.The cards must comply with Federal Information Processing Standard 201-1 from the National Institute of Standards and Technology and the General Services Administration's list of approved HSPD-12 products.

"Any firm believing itself to be capable of meeting EPA's requirement as stated herein may submit a quote," the EPA notice said.

Responses are due Aug. 31.
